Tips for QR codes that actually get scanned
Always test-scan your QR code with your phone before printing hundreds of flyers — a broken code is an expensive mistake. Keep strong contrast between the code and background; dark codes on light backgrounds scan most reliably, and low-contrast color combos can fail in poor lighting. For print, use the largest size and place the code at least 1 inch (2.5 cm) square so phone cameras can read it easily. Short URLs work best: if your link is very long, consider a URL shortener first, since denser codes are harder to scan. Finally, add a short call to action next to the code ("Scan to see the menu") — codes with context get scanned far more than lonely ones.
Frequently asked questions
Do these QR codes expire?
No. The QR code encodes your text or URL directly, so it works forever and does not depend on our site staying online.
Can I use the QR codes commercially?
Yes. Codes you generate here are free for personal and commercial use — packaging, menus, business cards, posters, anything.
Why won't my QR code scan?
The most common causes are low contrast between the code and background, a code printed too small, or a damaged/blurry print. Regenerate with high contrast at 1000 × 1000 and test again.
Is my URL sent to a server?
The QR image itself is rendered by a free public QR API; your input is only used to create the image and is not stored by us.
