How to use this template

Every role you pursue gets one row: company, title, date applied, where you found it, and its current status from the dropdown. Keep the status honest and current — the pipeline summary counts what is actually in each stage, and it is only useful if it reflects reality. Add follow-up dates when a posting suggests a timeline or a week has passed with no word.

The follow-up column is the feature that earns interviews. When a follow-up date passes and the application is still live, the row flags FOLLOW UP in red. A short, polite check-in email at that moment keeps you visible without being pushy — most candidates never follow up at all, which is exactly why it works.

The Pipeline tab shows your funnel: how many applications are at each stage and how many are still active. If applications pile up with no interviews, the problem is the resume or targeting. If interviews pile up with no offers, the problem is interview technique. The numbers tell you where to fix it.

Quality beats quantity, and the tracker proves it. Ten tailored applications with follow-ups outperform fifty spray-and-pray submissions every time — the pipeline tab will show you the conversion difference within a few weeks. When a particular stage stalls, fix that stage deliberately: rewrite the resume, practice interviews, or widen the target list. The numbers diagnose; you prescribe.

Frequently asked questions

Is this job tracker really free?

Yes. Download it, use it forever, no account or payment. It is supported the same way as our free tools — advertising on the site.

How many applications can it track?

Fifty rows, which covers most active searches. Insert more rows inside the table and copy the formulas down if you are running a high-volume campaign.

What should I put in the notes column?

Contact names, salary ranges, interview dates, what you liked about the role — anything you will want in front of you before a call. Future-you will be grateful.

Does it work in Google Sheets?

Yes. Upload the .xlsx to Google Drive and open with Google Sheets; the formulas, dropdowns, and conditional formatting carry over. It also works in LibreOffice.
