How to use this template

List every recurring charge you can find: streaming, music, software, news, fitness apps, game services, cloud storage — the ones you forgot are the point of this exercise. For each, enter the cost, pick the billing cycle from the dropdown, and add the next renewal date if you know it. The monthly and annual cost columns compute immediately.

The totals at the top are the moment of truth. Most people underestimate their subscription spend by a wide margin because annual and quarterly charges hide between the monthly ones. Seeing one annual number — and the cost per day it implies — makes cancel-or-keep decisions easy. Sort mentally by annual cost and interrogate from the top down.

Enter renewal dates for annual subscriptions especially; the sheet flags anything renewing within two weeks in red, which is your window to cancel before the charge. Revisit the sheet quarterly. Every subscription you cut is a raise you gave yourself.

The most powerful review question is simple: would I sign up for this again today at this price? Asked quarterly, it cuts through inertia — the reason most subscriptions survive is not love but the absence of a decision. Ask it next to the annual-cost column, where the true price is staring at you, and be ruthless. Every cancellation is money back in the budget every single month.

Frequently asked questions

Is this subscription tracker really free?

Yes. Download it, use it forever, no account or payment. It is supported the same way as our free tools — advertising on the site.

How does it compare different billing cycles?

Each row divides the cost by the months in its cycle — quarterly by 3, annual by 12 — producing a true monthly cost per service. The totals then add apples to apples.

What counts as a subscription?

Anything recurring: streaming, software, memberships, subscription boxes, insurance billed monthly. If it charges you on a schedule, it belongs on the list.

Does it work in Google Sheets?

Yes. Upload the .xlsx to Google Drive and open with Google Sheets; the formulas, dropdowns, and renewal flags carry over. It also works in LibreOffice.
