How to use this template

Write the Skills Summary first, not last. Distill your strongest capabilities into three to four short lines or clusters — these are your headline claims, and everything below exists to prove them. Tailor this section to each job posting so the keywords a recruiter or ATS is looking for appear in the top third of the page.

In the Work Experience section, list roles newest-first with three to five bullets each. Every bullet should echo a claim from the summary above and land with a number: revenue, headcount, timelines, percentages. The summary says what you do; the bullets prove it.

With ten-plus years of experience, two pages are completely fine — just keep the most relevant detail on page one. Export as PDF before sending, and double-check that the skills keywords from the posting appear verbatim where honest.

Frequently asked questions

What is a combination resume, and who is it for?

It pairs a skills summary (like a functional resume) with a chronological work history — the best fit for mid-career professionals with solid experience and diverse capabilities. You get the keyword-rich opening plus the timeline recruiters expect.

Is a two-page resume okay?

Yes. Once you have roughly ten years of relevant experience, two pages are standard. Keep page one packed with the most relevant material and trim older roles to one or two bullets.

Is this template ATS-friendly?

Yes — single-column layout, standard section headings, and no text boxes or graphics. Place the skills summary as plain text so its keywords get indexed by applicant tracking systems.

How should I tailor it for each application?

Rewrite the Professional Summary and Skills Summary for each posting, mirroring its key requirements and terminology. Leave the work history mostly stable — the bullets already prove the claims.
