What conversion rate tells you
Conversion rate is conversions divided by visitors, times 100. A store with 12,000 visitors and 300 orders converts at 2.5%. Use the same definitions over time; sessions and unique visitors give different results.
Typical e-commerce conversion rates are around 1–3%, landing pages built for one action often reach 5–15%, and rates vary widely by industry, price point and traffic source. Your own trend matters more than any benchmark.
Revenue per visitor combines conversion rate and average order value into one number, which makes it the best way to compare changes. A lower conversion rate can still be a win if order value rises enough. Use our A/B test calculator to confirm a change is real before rolling it out.

Frequently asked questions
What is a good conversion rate?
For online stores, 2–3% is common; it varies by industry, device and traffic source.
How do I calculate conversion rate?
Conversions ÷ visitors × 100.
What is revenue per visitor?
Total revenue divided by visitors, equal to conversion rate × average order value.
Should I use sessions or users?
Either works if you stay consistent. Sessions give a lower rate because one person can visit several times.
