- Edit any field, or click Clear all fields to remove the information.
- Click Save and download to get the updated PDF.
Why PDF metadata matters
The Title field is what browsers show in the tab when a PDF is opened, and search engines may use it in results. A PDF titled "Microsoft Word - final_v3_REAL.docx" looks unprofessional; set a clear title before publishing.
Metadata can also leak information: the author field often contains a full name or username, and the creator and producer reveal the software used. Clear these fields before sharing documents publicly.
This tool edits the document information dictionary that most viewers display. Some PDFs also store XMP metadata that a few apps read; the information dictionary is updated here, and the modification date is set to now.
