Social media image sizes (2026)
Common sizes: Instagram square posts 1080 × 1080, portrait 1080 × 1350 and stories or Reels covers 1080 × 1920; Facebook link and shared images 1200 × 630; X (Twitter) in-feed images 1600 × 900 and headers 1500 × 500; LinkedIn shared images 1200 × 627 and banners 1584 × 396; YouTube thumbnails 1280 × 720 and channel banners 2560 × 1440; Pinterest pins 1000 × 1500.
Platforms crop and compress uploads, and they sometimes change their recommendations. Keep important text and faces near the center, away from edges where profile pictures, buttons or captions may overlap. YouTube banners show only the central area of about 1546 × 423 on every device.
Upload images at the recommended size or larger, in JPG for photos and PNG for graphics with text, to reduce the extra compression platforms apply.
