Drum Machine
Make a beat in seconds: click the grid to place kicks, snares, hi-hats and more, set the tempo and swing, then share a link to your pattern or save it as a WAV loop.
Click a step to turn it on; drag to paint. Shift-click or double-click for an accent (louder). Space bar plays and stops.
How to make a beat
- Pick a preset to start from, or press Clear for an empty grid. Each row is a drum; each column is a 16th note, with four columns to a beat.
- Click squares to add hits. Put kicks on 1 and 3 (columns 1 and 9) and snares on 2 and 4 (columns 5 and 13) for a basic rock beat, then add hi-hats on every other step.
- Press Play, adjust the tempo and swing, and use M to mute a row. When you like it, copy the share link or save a WAV loop.
What is a step sequencer?
A step sequencer divides one bar of music into 16 equal steps (16th notes). Each step can trigger any of the drums, and the pattern loops. Columns 1, 5, 9 and 13 are the four beats of the bar; they are shaded so you can find them quickly. This is the same layout used by classic drum machines and most music software.
Swing delays every second 16th note slightly, turning a stiff, even rhythm into the shuffled feel heard in hip hop, funk and house. Try 15–30% to start. Accents (shift-click or double-click) play a step louder, which helps a groove breathe.
Sharing and saving
Your pattern is saved in this browser automatically. “Copy share link” puts the whole pattern, tempo and swing into a web address, so anyone who opens the link hears the same beat. “Save loop as WAV” renders the pattern to an audio file you can drop into a video editor or music app; choose 1 to 8 bars.

Frequently asked questions
Where do the drum sounds come from?
They are synthesized live in your browser with the Web Audio API, in the style of classic analog drum machines. Nothing is downloaded.
Can I use the WAV loops in my own music or videos?
Yes. The loops you make are yours to use however you like.
Why does the timing stay steady?
Hits are scheduled ahead of time on the browser’s audio clock rather than with ordinary timers, so the beat keeps steady even if the page is busy.
Can I add more than 16 steps or my own samples?
Not at the moment. The machine uses one 16-step bar with eight built-in sounds; save several WAV loops to build longer pieces.
Is anything sent to a server?
No. Everything is calculated in your browser, and nothing you enter leaves your device.
