Online Piano
Play a three-octave piano in your browser with your mouse, a touch screen, your computer keyboard or a USB MIDI keyboard. Switch sounds, use sustain, and record what you play.
Keys: bottom row Z–M plays the lower octave, Q–U and the number row play the upper ones. Arrow keys change octave.
How to play the online piano
- Click or tap the keys, or use your computer keyboard: Z, X, C, V, B, N, M play C to B, and the row of letters S, D, G, H, J above them plays the black keys.
- Hold the space bar or press Sustain to let notes ring. Use the arrows to move up or down an octave and pick a sound from the menu.
- Press Record, play something, then Stop recording. Play it back, or save it as a WAV file to keep.
Computer keyboard layout
The keyboard works like a piano laid across two rows of your computer keyboard. The bottom letter row (Z X C V B N M ,) plays the white keys of the lower octave, with S D G H J for the black keys between them. The top letter row (Q W E R T Y U I O P) continues upward, with the number keys 2 3 5 6 7 9 0 as its black keys. Turn on “Note names” to see C, D, E and so on printed on the keys.
Sounds and MIDI
All four sounds are generated live by your browser, so there is nothing to download. The piano tone fades naturally, lower notes ringing longer, while the organ holds for as long as you press. If your browser supports Web MIDI (Chrome and Edge do), plug in a USB MIDI keyboard and press “Connect MIDI keyboard” to play with velocity and a sustain pedal.

Does it work on a phone or tablet?
Yes. Tap the keys; you can press several at once and slide across them. Turn your phone sideways for bigger keys.
Why is there no sound?
Check that your device is not muted and the volume slider is up. On iPhone, the ring/silent switch also mutes browser audio.
Can I save what I play?
Yes. Record, then click “Save as WAV”. The recording is rendered in your browser with the sound you have selected.
Can I use a MIDI keyboard?
Yes, in browsers that support Web MIDI, such as Chrome and Edge. Safari and Firefox do not currently allow it.
Is anything sent to a server?
No. Everything is calculated in your browser, and nothing you enter leaves your device.
