PayPal and Stripe fees for U.S. sellers
PayPal's standard U.S. commercial rate for PayPal Checkout and Pay with Venmo is 3.49% plus a $0.49 fixed fee. Goods and services payments funded by a PayPal balance or bank are 2.99%, and card payments processed through PayPal's card products are 2.99% plus $0.49. Payments from outside the U.S. add 1.5%, and currency conversion adds more.
Stripe's standard U.S. pricing is 2.9% plus $0.30 per successful card charge, with an extra 1.5% for international cards and 1% if currency conversion is required. High-volume businesses can often negotiate lower custom rates with either provider.
To receive an exact amount, divide what you want plus the fixed fee by one minus the percentage: (amount + fixed fee) ÷ (1 − rate). Personal payments between friends and family from a bank or balance are free, but they are not for buying goods and offer no purchase protection. Rates change; confirm on PayPal's and Stripe's fee pages.
