How to convert a PDF to JPG

  1. Drop a PDF onto the box or click "Choose PDF".
  2. Choose JPG for photos and smaller files, or PNG for crisp text and diagrams. Pick a resolution: High suits screens and slides, Print or Very high suits printing.
  3. Click "Convert to images", then download individual pages or all of them at once as a ZIP.

Choosing format and resolution

JPG uses lossy compression, which keeps photo-heavy pages small; "High" quality is visually indistinguishable from the original for most uses. PNG is lossless, so text, charts and line drawings stay perfectly sharp, at the cost of larger files.

Resolution controls the pixel size of each image. A standard Letter page at 144 dpi becomes about 1224 × 1584 pixels, plenty for slides and web pages. Choose 216 or 288 dpi when the image will be printed or when you need to zoom into small text.

Pages are drawn by PDF.js, the same engine Firefox uses to display PDFs, running entirely in your browser. Large documents at very high resolution use a lot of memory, so convert big files at High first.

Frequently asked questions

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. The file is read and processed by JavaScript in your browser and saved straight back to your device. Nothing is sent to a server.

Which is better, JPG or PNG?

JPG for photos and when file size matters; PNG for documents with text, diagrams or screenshots where sharpness matters most.

Can I convert just one page?

Yes. Convert the document, then download only the page you want from its thumbnail.

Why do some fonts look different?

Rarely, a PDF uses an unusual font that is not embedded in the file. PDF.js substitutes a similar font in that case.
