How to split a PDF
- Drop a PDF onto the box or click "Choose PDF". The page count is shown once it loads.
- Choose a mode: extract selected pages into one new PDF, save every page as its own file, or create one PDF for each range you list.
- Enter page numbers and ranges separated by commas, like 1-3, 7, 10-12, then click "Split PDF" and download the results.
Why split PDFs in your browser
Large PDFs often contain only a few pages you actually need to send: the signature page of a contract, one month of a bank statement, a single chapter, or the receipts for one trip. Extracting those pages keeps attachments small and avoids sharing information the recipient does not need to see.
This tool uses the open-source pdf-lib library to copy the pages you choose into new documents without re-rendering them, so text stays searchable and sharp and images keep their original quality. Because it runs entirely in your browser, sensitive documents never touch a server. Page ranges can be written in any order; "5, 1-2" produces a file with page 5 first.
When you split every page into a separate file, each one gets its own download button so you can grab only the pages you want. For combining the pieces back together, or adding pages from another file, use Merge PDF.

Frequently asked questions
Are my files uploaded?
No. Your files never leave your device. Everything is processed by JavaScript in this browser tab, so there is no upload, no queue, and no copy kept on a server.
How do I write page ranges?
Separate items with commas. Use a hyphen for ranges: "1-3, 7, 10-12" means pages 1, 2, 3, 7, 10, 11 and 12.
Can I reorder pages?
Yes, in "Extract pages" mode pages are output in the order you type them, so "3, 1, 2" puts page 3 first.
Does it work with scanned PDFs?
Yes. Scanned pages are images inside the PDF and are copied as-is.
