How to use this template
Start with the objective: what students will be able to do by the end, written with a measurable verb (explain, solve, compare) rather than "understand".
Plan backward from the objective to an assessment, then build the sequence. The gradual release model (I do, we do, you do) is built into the stages.
Fill in both columns at each stage. Planning what students are doing keeps the lesson active rather than lecture-heavy.
After teaching, jot a quick reflection. Next year's you will be grateful.
